What Recruiters Look For In An Australian Resume

Recruiters are often trying to answer one question quickly: is this candidate a credible fit for this role? Your resume should make that answer easy.

Relevant Role Language

Recruiters look for familiar role titles, skills, tools, industries, and outcomes that match the job ad.

If your previous titles are unfamiliar in Australia, explain the function and responsibility clearly in the profile or role bullets.

Evidence Of Impact

Responsibilities matter, but achievements are easier to trust when they include measurable results, scope, or business context.

Use numbers where they are honest: revenue, budget, volume, time saved, team size, compliance outcomes, customer impact, or project scale.

A Clear Recent Story

Recent relevant experience should be easy to find. If you are changing careers, make the transferable connection obvious.

A recruiter should not have to work hard to understand why your past experience applies to the role in front of them.
